We all have bad habits. Whether it’s biting your nails, grinding your teeth or eating out of boredom. I am personally a victim of all of these things. Or at least I have been. I managed to chuck the nail-biting once I got braces, it became painful and wasn’t worth it.
People always seem to have ways in which you can stop biting your nails, ‘haven’t you tried that nail varnish that tastes horrible?’ or ‘try putting plasters over your nails’ are just two of the so-called solutions I’ve been given throughout my nail-biting life.
I tried my hardest to stop biting my nails. Painted them pretty colours to stop me from wanting to bite them. Got falsies to try help them grow (disclaimer: this does not work and literally ruins them!) Even when I got braces I continued to bite them, especially in the early days. Powered through the pain it caused me just to bite one more nail (I sound like some kind of addict I know but it is true!)
It all comes down to will power. Whether its nail-biting or smoking you have to be strong about it. Keep telling yourself you can do it and be positive.
I’m currently trying to stop eating unhealthy snacks throughout the day to help me lose a bit of weight. By telling myself that I don’t need that bag of crisps or that chocolate biscuit I’ve actually been doing really well.
It is all about keeping positive and having positive people around you that aren’t going to try and tempt you! Positivity is key and I’m literally living by this at the minute.
So to roundup, stay strong, keep positive and remember someone always believes in you even if you don’t believe in yourself!
Keep being you x
